World of Warcraft Terms of use violation

The action of violating WORLD OF WARCRAFT TERMS OF USE AGREEMENT By placing BattleTag's in addon source code ("\oqueue\region\realms.*") you are violating WOW Terms of Use: "7. Code of Conduct. ... B. Rules Related to "Chat" and Interaction With Other Users. You may not: ... (v) Communicate or post any user's personal information in the Game, or on websites or forums related to the Game, except that a user may communicate his or her own personal information in a private message directed to a single user;" Please, remove any personal data about world of warcraft accounts (such as BattleTag's) from addon source code in next update.

You don't obtain any personal data from a Battle-tag. Back when it was Real ID, sure, I could see that, but that's why Blizzard brought out Battle-tags in the first place.

I would have to agree, a battle tag is not personal information. In fact, it is probably owned by Blizzard just like your characters.

Please, learn laws before post's. "Personally identifiable information" as used in US privacy law is information that can be used on its own or with other information to identify, contact, or locate a single person, or to identify an individual in context. NIST Special Publication 800-122 defines Personally identifiable information as "any information about an individual maintained by an agency, including any information that can be used to distinguish or trace an individual‘s identity, such as name, social security number, date and place of birth, mother‘s maiden name, or biometric records; and any other information that is linked or linkable to an individual, such as medical, educational, financial, and employment information." So, for example, a user's IP address as used in a communication exchange is classed as Personally identifiable information regardless of whether it may or may not on its own be able to uniquely identify a person.

sorry, no. the battle tags of those that have crossed the line will continue to be included within oQueue.

battle tags are meant to be given out to everyone similar to a license plate number.

anyone that has earned a place on the list should have been more concerned with violating standard copyright laws or blizzard TOS.

Really? Because I'm pretty sure if OQ gave out my btag no one would know who I was or be able to find me. There is no link to my personal information unless you work for Blizzard and in which case they know how to handle such things.

Also, Blizzard is aware of how OQ works and some of them even use it themselves. If you don't work for Blizzard you should probably go mind your own business. You aren't forced to use OQ so if you don't like it you don't have to. I am 100% ok with how OQ works.
