I'm a little confused about the karma system and couldn't find any explanation about what it is/what it is for/how it really works.
I know there is a "decay" system where your karma moves 1 point toward 0 every 24 hours, but there have been two cases where I appear to have seen strange things that I can't get an explanation on.
From my experience, I am able to issue karma to a person once per day (plus or minus one), and same for other people. I rarely receive karma from other people, but when I do, I see a message in the chat frame saying "you've gained 1 karma point" or "you've lost 1 karma point". However, there are two cases when I have received greater than one karma in a single message and I am confused as to how this can happen if people can only award 1 karma point to a person per day.
The first time was a while back. I joined a flex raid and was going to single tank garrosh. The people in the party refused to stack on the marker we set up after several minutes of explaining why it was important, so I left the raid. However, since I was still in the party (since flex groups create two separate groups you have to leave), two disgruntled raiders were actually able to individually reduce my karma by 1 point each. So, I got two separate messages saying "you've lost 1 karma point". I didn't appreciate losing two karma, but whatever, that's their vote and it will be gone in two days. However, to my surprise, about 45 minutes later I was sitting in trade chat when suddenly I got a message saying "you've gained 2 karma point" (apparently the message doesn't change for plural points). This effectively reset my karma to 0. However, I never received any sort of explanation about who/what/why I received 2 karma.
Now that is a weird case but this second one just happened about 15 minutes ago and I can't begin to determine why (maybe I'm an oQueue noob and everyone but me knows). I was sitting in trade chat, hadn't been in an oQueue group in over 12 hours, when suddenly I got a message from oqueue that said "you've gained 5 karma point". Again, no explanation. When I looked at several of the premades on the list at this point, I noticed that several other people (but not all) also appeared to have received a 5 karma boost.
Can anyone explain either of these situations?
